"Highway to Hell" Artist's Statement: As a child, I grew up always fantasizing about becoming a musician/actor. I re-watched famous films and pre-recorded live concerts over and over. I would recite the lines and music lyrics that I had memorized to anyone that was willing to listen. As I grew older, I began to do high school plays, short-films, and record amateur music that I had written. I began to research musicians and their careers. I wanted to find my inspiration from respected people ahead of me in the game. This led me to question how these people made it to stardom only to discover that these so called “dreams” that I had desired were not all it was cracked up to be. It seemed most popular individuals that I either appreciated or only knew of that were in the entertainment business were extremely unhappy which helped me reconsider another field that I felt would be more rewarding without a guarantee of sorrow. This is why I chose my social work as my major. This photography project displays an idea I imagined that I personally felt was accurate to an extent. It is a 6 step timeline process a musician goes through in his/her career (The rise and fall of celebrity).
