is an adaptation of the early 1900s ballet The Rite of Spring in which
an innocent maiden is sacrificed to bring about spring to a pagan and
unfeeling Russian landscape. Dancing herself to death in sporadic and
desperate movement, the maiden accepts her fate when she is isolated
and burdened with the responsibility to bring new life to her home. I
believe that this also happens during the first year of college when
new students become isolated and attempt to get through their own
winter without the help of friends, family, or even their own
confidence.
